It’s the Android powered, 5.5 inches smartphone known as the Huawei Mate 30. It’s been in the market for only a few months and already it has become an instant hit with tech junkies and geeks alike. And rightfully so. After all, there is nothing like owning a smartphone that is very well designed, comes equipped with cutting edge technology and has a comfortable and attractive design.
All of this can be attributed to the mobile manufacturers’ ability to create their own unique advantages. However, when it comes to the mobile electronics industry, it is often times a case of who can give more than who can take. That’s why I find it amusing that many publications like PC Mag, Wired and even the New York Times all want to know about Huawei.
And that’s not the worst of it. In fact, the fact that the makers of these magazines would even ask about Huawei and its amazing new smartphone should be enough to cause a first reaction of disapproval in the minds of many smart phones buyers.
But then, the competition is so fierce today, and it seems that each manufacturer or brand has their own target audience to consider. So, it’s not really surprising that there are people who will prefer reviewing another brand or even another manufacturer.
I get asked for my opinion a lot by publications like PC Mag, Wired and the New York Times. Sometimes, I’ll think that it’s a cool thing to hear from magazines like this that have a stake in the mobile gadget market, but I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the most powerful and reputed companies in the world.
Some years ago, I reviewed the first BlackBerry model at a time when there was not much difference between a BlackBerry and other cellphones. Some would call it a fluke, but as you probably know, that wasn’t the case. I was amazed to see that BlackBerry had managed to develop a wonderful piece of mobile machinery.
I remember Eddy Cue was one of the first people who started to promote the Blackberry Curve, and he told me that his company was going to make a lot of money. Many individuals and companies bought Blackberries after that, and it became a popular choice of people who wanted to keep up with the latest technological trends.
Nowadays, in addition to mobile phones, smartphones are increasingly being used in cars, in desktops and even on planes. But we have to admit that they are also considered a necessity for most people nowadays.
This gives the entire industry a very specific target audience. For example, the market for Smartphones is going to be dominated by Blackberry users, and they won’t want anything else.
There are a lot of people out there who think that mobile manufacturers only make smart phones, but the truth is that they also manufacture a number of other devices, and some of them even have the ability to do some very advanced things. So, let’s see if Huawei can really deliver the goods when it comes to smart phones.
